Trek the trail

SCULPTURE AWARD 2012 Winner – first prize
‘The Ant Trail’
The four figures were made from bisque fired paper clay painted with natural elements on my country property.
Red - iron rich red clay slip
Brown - ground charcoal, black ink and red clay
Beige – mashed orange tree fungi (from a Marri)
The tails are made from a cobweb brush which has been sprayed and is wired onto the clay and they have wire whiskers.
They have then been sealed with a spirit based spray.
On site each animal had a trail of dry red clay to depict a white ant trail between them.
